Corrales News

The Village of Corrales has generously awarded Corrales MainStreet a nine-month contract to promote the Village and attract more visitors. The emphasis is on increasing visitors to Corrales’ businesses and events such as the Grower’s Market, Art in the Park and Sunday in the Village. With more visitors, businesses will have more customers, growers will increase their produce sales and artisans will sell another piece of jewelry or art. Corrales has more than a handful (maybe two hundred?) artisans making their living producing arts and crafts. While some do very well and sell at competitive prices, the 80/20 rule most likely applies i.e. 20% of the dealers do 80% of the business. More buyers will help spread the sales to more of the market.

One of MainStreet’s objectives under this contract is to develop a “rack card” for the New Mexico State Visitors’ Centers. Their racks contain cards and brochures highlighting attractions from all over New Mexico, but none about Corrales. MainStreet is completing production of 10,000 Village promotional cards (about a years supply) which will distribute at the nine New Mexico Visitors’ Centers. The card will promote Corrales as a place to visit and shop.

Another obligation under this contract is to seek marketing funds from other sources. MainStreet now has $8,000 in marketing grants to help promote our community. In addition to the rack cards, expect to see the MainStreet News quarterly, ads in visitors publications and new brochures highlighting the Village.

With support from the Village Council, MainStreet will help keep local businesses and events profitable and growing.
